Der Vortrag "Palestinian Struggle to Exist" wird eine tiefgehende Auseinandersetzung mit der historischen Entwicklung und der gegenwärtigen Situation der Palästinenser:innen des Historischen Palästinas als auch im Exil sein. Das Augenmerk des Vortrags liegt dabei auf einer ausgewogenen und kritischen Betrachtung der Ereignisse aus einer antikapitalistischen und antiimperialistischen Sichtweißen. Die Inhalte werden eine Person aus dem Gazasteifen und eine Person aus dem Westjordanland vermittelt. Darüber hinaus wird die Perspektive eines jüdischen Amerikaners, der in Deutschaland lebt, zu Antisemitismus in Deutschland und die damit verbundene negative Wahrnehmungen und Fehlinformationen über Gaza und Palästinenser:innen im Allgemein Raum finden. Ziel ist dabei ein umfassendes Verständnis für den anhaltenden Kampf der Palästinenser*innen um ihre Existenz zu vermitteln.
Der Vortrag wird zunächst historische Einblicke Palästinas bieten unteranderem werden hier auch Einblicke in das israelische Archiv und die Vereinten Nationen gegeben, um die Hintergründe des dieses Kampfes umfassend zu beleuchten. Dabei wird es um die Entstehung des Staates Israel, die Nakba, sowie die verschiedenen Phasen des letzten Jahrhunderts bis in die Gegenwart gehen. Zusätzlich werden insbesondere die Auswirkungen dieser Ereignisse auf das tägliche Leben der Palästinenser:innen aufgezeigt. Einer der Ziele ist, Informationen zu präsentieren, die systematisch unterdrückt, verändert oder einfach ausgelassen wurden. Wir möchten die Stimmen derer präsentieren, die zum Schweigen gebracht wurden.
Es wird auch auf die aktuelle Situation in den palästinensischen Gebieten: dem Gazastreifen und das Westjordanland geblickt. Hierzu gehören politische, soziale und wirtschaftliche Aspekte, die den Alltag der Menschen beeinflussen. Der Vortrag soll dazu beitragen, ein Bewusstsein für die Herausforderungen zu schaffen, mit denen die Palästinenser:innen konfrontiert sind.
Ziel ist es einen sicheren Raum für Fragen, Konversationen und verschiedene Perspektiven zu geben. Durch eine wissenschaftliche, informative und gleichzeitig auch kritische Darstellung der Thematik soll das Publikum dazu angeregt werden, sich mit dem Thema auseinanderzusetzen. Uns liegt daran, keine Debatten zu initiieren, sondern vielmehr wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse mit persönlichen Erfahrungen zu verbinden. Auf diese Weise streben wir einen respektvollen Austausch an, der zu bereichernden Gesprächen führen soll.
Die Vortag wird teilweise auf Deutsch und teilweise auf Englisch stattfinden.

Historical insight, current situation and how this is portrayed in the German media
The presentation "Palestinian Struggle to Exist" will be an in-depth examination of the historical development and the current situation of Palestinians in historical Palestine as well as in exile. The focus of the lecture will be on a balanced and critical view of the events from an anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist perspective. The content will be presented by a person from the Gaza Strip and a person from the West Bank. The contract will also include the perspective of a Jewish American living in Germany on anti-Semitism in Germany and the associated negative perceptions and misinformation about Gaza and Palestinians in general. The aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Palestinians' ongoing struggle for their existence.
The presentation will first offer historical insights into Palestine, including insights into the Israeli archives and the United Nations, in order to shed light on the background to this struggle. The focus will be on the creation of the State of Israel, the Nakba and the various phases of the last century up to the present day. In addition, the impact of these events on the daily lives of Palestinians will be highlighted. One of the aims of our lecture is to present information that has been systematically suppressed, altered or simply omitted. We want to present the voices of those who were silenced.
Another focus will be on the current situation in the Palestinian territories: the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. This includes political, social and economic aspects that affect people's everyday lives. The lecture will help to raise awareness of the challenges faced by Palestinians.
We hope to achieve this by analyzing the media portrayal of Palestine, both historically and during this war in Gaza. With more reliable information available, our goal is to build support against the humanitarian catastrophe that has been ongoing in Gaza and the West Bank for decades.
The aim is to provide a safe space for questions, conversations and different perspectives. Through a scientific, informative and at the same time critical presentation of the topic, the audience should be encouraged to engage with the subject. Our aim is not to initiate debates, but rather to combine scientific findings with personal experiences. In this way, we strive for a respectful exchange that should lead to enriching conversations.
The lecture will be held partly in German and partly in English.
