Andrew Feinstein is author of the book and film Shadow World: Inside the Global Arms Trade & Executive Director of Shadow World Investigations

In the lecture Feinstein will outline how the most corrupt of all trades - based on collusion between politicians, corporate executives, the military & dodgy intermediaries - undermines democracy and the rule of law, while making us poorer, less safe and less healthy. Weapons makers, and their political protectors, count their profits in billions & their costs in human lives, while claiming mendaciously that the arms trade is good for our economies. Feinstein will reveal the stark reality of this trade by focusing on the appalling conflict in Yemen, fuelled by German & other EU arms.

In dem Vortrag wird Feinstein darlegen, wie das korrupteste aller Geschäfte - basierend auf Absprachen zwischen Politikern, Führungskräften, militär- und dubiosen Vermittlern - Demokratie und Rechtsstaatlichkeit untergräbt und uns gleichzeitig ärmer, weniger sicher und weniger gesund macht. Waffenhersteller und ihre politischen Beschützer zählen ihre Gewinne in Milliarden und ihre Kosten in Menschenleben, während sie verlogen behaupten, dass der Waffenhandel gut für unsere Volkswirtschaften ist. Feinstein enthüllt die Realität dieses Handels indem er sich auf den entsetzlichen Konflikt im Jemen konzentriert, der von deutschen und anderen EU-Waffen angeheizt wird.
