We, the Bürgi*verein, are a newly founded group of Zähringen residents who agree that our neighborhood could use a little more art, culture, and solidarity. That's why we're organizing our first community kitchen with a workshop and music, which we hope will be the first in a whole series of events. There aren't many places to go out in Zähringen, so from now on we're going to create our own cultural program!
Starting at 1:30 p.m., there will be vegan hot food made from regional organic vegetables, available on a donation basis. If you want to help chop vegetables, feel free to come by at 12:00 p.m.
Starting at 2:30 p.m., we would like to hold a “speak and listen” dialogue with as many people from the neighborhood as possible in order to become more familiar with each other's realities.
“Speak & Listen” was developed by Mehr Demokratie e. V. The goal is a non-hierarchical exchange. Participants are encouraged to share their own experiences, which is the core of the format. Each person is given the same amount of speaking time, with one person speaking for four minutes at a time while the others listen.
Emotions, empathy, and respect can be shared in this way. We would also like to use this format as preparation for our upcoming political work, because we want to know what moves people in our neighborhood!
To conclude and relax, there will be an open stage starting at 4:00 p.m., with folk & solo violin, and whatever instruments you bring 🙂 Please let us know by email if you need technical support for your instruments, and we will see what we can do.
See you there,
Your Zähringer Bürgis

SELBSTVERSTÄNDNIS:
We are a newly founded association of Zähringen residents who agree that Zähringen, as our shared neighborhood, could use a little more art, culture, and neighborly solidarity. We love living here, and that's precisely why we want to join forces and get involved.
We plan to organize events and networking opportunities to make Zähringen a more livable place step by step and to get people talking. About the things that make our lives difficult and about the things we want to do. The more of us there are, the more we can achieve!
We want to engage in community work, youth work, and elderly care. We want to facilitate concerts, community kitchens, and exchange formats, and create spaces for people to come together without the pressure to consume. Anything is possible, and we want to focus on what is needed.
In times of crisis, we want to strengthen neighborhood cohesion across class, origin, and other backgrounds.
Because we believe that as citizens of a democracy, it is not enough to simply mark a ballot every four years, we also want to network politically. We cannot accept the increasing normality of the shift to the right, the resignation in the face of the climate crisis, and the ever-widening gap between the rich and thepoor, and we are convinced that change begins on a small scale, locally and on the ground. That is why we are founding the Bürgi*verein Zähringen.
