In wenigen Tagen ist es soweit – der erste und vorerst letzte Späti Freiburgs muss schließen. Nach etlichen Klagen vonseiten der Anwohner*innenschaft und ordnungspolitischen Maßnahmen sieht sich das "Bis Späti"-Kollektiv dazu gezwungen, die Segel zu raffen und damit den zweijährigen Ausflug ins Großstadt-Feeling zu beenden. Freiburg sei eben Freiburg heißt es, da könne man nichts machen, und die klagenden Anwohner*innen reiben sich wohl ebenso die Hände wie die Hilfssheriffs vom Amt für öffentliche Ordnung. Der Konflikt auf und um den Lederleplatz scheint beendet. Die Utopie alternativer Räume für Kultur, Politik, Konsum und gelebter Solidarität schwindet mal wieder dahin.
Nicht nur das Ende vom Späti, auch die Abrissbedrohung der Gartenstraße 19, der repressive Umgang mit Hausbesetzungen (im Zuge der Squatting Days 2019), der permanente Leerstand bei gleichzeitigem Mangel an sozialem Wohnraum, die Verwaltung vom Wohnungslosigkeit, die Auslagerung von Geflüchtetenunterkünften in die Industrieviertel der Stadt, die Zwangsräumungen derer, die ihre horrende Miete nicht mehr bezahlen können, der Niedergang der Freiburger Club-Nachtkultur, rassistische Polizeikontrollen in eigens eingerichteten sogenannten "Gefahrengebieten", und und und... werfen die Frage auf:
Wem gehört eigentliche diese Stadt? Wem gehören die Häuser, die Parks und Plätze? UNS ALLEN!
Aber wer wird gehört? Wir meinen, nur einige Wenige. Nämlich die privilegierten Bürger*innen, die alles sicher, ruhig und schön ordentlich haben wollen. Und die ihre Interessen sowohl stadtpolitisch als auch rechtlich durchboxen können.
Lasst uns nicht wegducken, wenn sie uns unsere Räume nehmen, in denen wir eine solidarische Welt leben. Unsere Räume sind Orte für Kreativität, Rückzug, Planung, Lernen, Aktion, Feierei… sie ermöglichen uns wichtige Schritte hin zum selbstbestimmten Leben!
Daher wollen wir uns am Sonntag, den 20. Juni gemeinsam auf unsern Rädern die Straße nehmen - kommt zahlreich, laut und bunt!
Bitte achtet auf die Hygieneregeln, haltet Abstand und tragt Mund-und Nasenschutz gegen Corona und sonstiges Übel ;)

in only a couple of days Freiburg's first but hopefully not last Späti has to close down. After legal suits by the neighbors and official measures from the city council the Späti people are forced to exit their project and Freiburgs short trip to the big city life comes to an end with it. That's just Freiburg, they say, there's nothing you can do about it. The conflict around Lederleplatz thus seems to be decided, once again stopping utopian spaces for cultural and political events, alternative consumption and lived solidarity.
Späti's forced end is not an isolated case. The squatted center in Gartenstraße 19 is threatened with demolition. Repression against squatters continues to criminalize people instead of adressing the issues they are protesting against. Freiburg lacks affordable housing, while there are lots of unused office buildings. homeless people are 'managed' and patronized. Refugees are put in remote camps and isolated from the rest of society. People who can't afford the ever rising rents are being evicted. More and more racist police controls take place and so called "dangerous zones" exist just to make it easier. And the list goes on. This raises the question:
To whom belongs this city? The houses, the parks, the squares? To ALL OF US!
But whose ideas and needs are being listened to? Those of just a few. Priviledged citizens who want everything nice, neat, quiet and in order. And who have the knowledge and the means to enforce their interests politically and legally.
Let's not run away and hide when they take our spaces, our spaces for what we want and need. Solidarity, Creativity, Retreat, Planning, Learning, Actions, Parties... Those spaces help us find ways towards a better, more self-determined life.
So let's take it to the streets! On sunday, june 20th, we'll have a collective bike ride. Join in - numerous, colorfully and loud!
Let's take care of each other. Please observe hygiene-rules, keep physical distance and wear a facemask, against Covid and other evils ;)
