Juni 2015. Ventimiglia. Grenzland zwischen Italien und Frankreich. Eine
Gruppe afrikanischer Migrant*innen werden am Grenzübergang von den
französischen Autoritäten zurückgewiesen. Daraufhin besetzen sie die
Felsen über dem Meer und fordern lautstark, ihre Reise nach Nordeuropa
fortsetzen zu können - ihr Recht auf Bewegungsfreiheit. In nur wenigen
Stunden werden sie ein weiteres Symbol des Versagens der europäischen
Flüchtlingspolitik.
"Dieser Film ist das Resultat aus 24 Stunden an der Grenze in
Ventimiglia, wo ich frei Bilder und Töne von dem aufnahm, was sich vor
meinen Augen ereignete. Wenn ich nun das Material ansehe und anhöre,
erscheint mir ein Satz als roter Faden, um den sich das gesamte Problem
dreht: 'Mach Bilder, komm schon, mach Bilder. Zeig all das der Welt.'
Ein junger Mann sagt das, macht die Kamera zur Zeugin. Migrant*innen,
Journalist*innen, Aktivist*innen, Tourist*innen, Freiwillige: alle auf
die Felsen, alle an die Grenze, alle suchen nach ihrer eigenen Rolle in
der 'Show'."

Film "SHOW ALL THIS TO THE WORLD", after bar at Strandcafé
June 2015. Ventimiglia. The border between Italy and France. A group of
African migrants, turned back at the border by the French, occupies the
rocks on the sea and loudly asks to be allowed to continue their journey
towards northern Europe. In just a few hours they become the symbol of
the refugee crisis in Europe.
“This movie is the result of twenty-four hours spent on the border at
Ventimiglia, where I freely recorded images and sounds of what was
happening in front of my eyes. When I look at and listen to the material
again, one phrase in particular seems to be the thread around which the
entire problem can be wound: ‘Take pictures, c’mon take pictures. Show
all this to the world.’ The guy who says this, makes the video camera a
witness. Migrants, journalists, photographers, police, citizens,
activists, tourists, volunteers: everybody on the rocks, everybody at
the border, everybody searching for their own role within the ‘show’.”
